In harmony with Janikowski, Marcus Hiles expects continued improvement for the statewide economy in 2017, citing The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries’ (OPEC) decision to reduce production levels in January as a sign that oil prices will continue to grow and make way for huge job gains. Hiles expects much of Texas, including North Texas and Austin, to continue as national leaders in the sectors of technology, manufacturing and real estate. The North Texas labor market is adding up to 330 jobs daily throughout their 80 straight months of expansion, said the Texas Workforce Commission. Austin was listed in a January 4th Forbes articles as one of the top places in the country to find a job and as the city with the lowest unemployment rate. Hiles is confident that Texas will continue to be a source of rapid growth for a long time with these positive indicators.
